Mission

The mission of Maine Behavioral Health Organization is to provide evidence based services leading to increased quality of life; through research, advocacy, education, operated services, and participation in public mental health policy design.

The organization provides behavioral health services across central maine; designed to stabilize children and adults with severe and persistent mental and developmental illnesses through community integration, reducing dependence on state and federal social services systems, leading to increased employability.

The organization uses the maine association of non-profits' annual salary survey as a guide to determine if executive compensation is reasonable. Each year is applicable, executive team salary increases are recommended by the executive director and director of finance. These recommendations are submitted to the salary committee of the board of directors. The salary committee reviews the recommendation with any supporting information and makes a recommendation to the board. The board then votes on any changes to executive compensation and the changes go into effect.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The mission of maine behavioral health organization is to provide evidence based services leading to increased quality of life; through research, advocacy, education, operated services, and participation in public mental health policy design.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Counseling - licensed psychotherapists treat a wide range of behavioral problems including trauma, major depression, grief and loss, substance abuse, personality disorders, family problems etc. Psychotherapists assist to reduce dependence and improve employability by working through case management, coordination of care and social services hubs, and advancements in technology. Rehabilitative and community support services for children with cognitive impairments and functional limitations (rcs) (section 28) - the rcs service is a direct care service provided in the home and/or community in either individual or group settings. These services are designed to retain or improve functional abilities of children which have been negatively impacted by the effects of cognitive or functional impairment and are focused on behavior modification and management, social development, and acquisition and retention of developmentally appropriate skills. These services are for children or youth who have a developmental disability that effects their everyday living. Examples include autism, spectrum disorders and intellectual disability. Services include skill building in activities of daily living and behavior management. Daily living support - this is an adult program designed to help individuals maintain the highest level of independence possible through supervision and therapeautic support. The goal of the program is to help individuals with the tasks of daily living that occur both at home and in the community through coaching, cuing and modeling.

Income tax status - the organization is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. In addition, the organization qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b)(1)(a) and has been classified as an organization other than a private foundation under section 509(a)(2). Management believes it has no uncertain tax positions with the internal revenue service that require disclosure in the financial statements.

PSYCHOTHERAPISTS ASSIST TO REDUCE DEPENDENCE AND IMPROVE EMPLOYABILITY BY WORKING THROUGH CASE MANAGEMENT, COORDINATION OF CARE AND SOCIAL SERVICES HUBS, AND ADVANCEMENTS IN TECHNOLOGY. REHABILITATIVE AND COMMUNITY SUPPORT SERVICES FOR CHILDREN WITH COGNITIVE IMPAIRMENTS AND FUNCTIONAL LIMITATIONS (RCS) (SECTION 28) - THE RCS SERVICE IS A DIRECT CARE SERVICE PROVIDED IN THE HOME AND/OR COMMUNITY IN EITHER INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP SETTINGS. THESE SERVICES ARE DESIGNED TO RETAIN OR IMPROVE FUNCTIONAL ABILITIES OF CHILDREN WHICH HAVE BEEN NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY THE EFFECTS OF COGNITIVE OR FUNCTIONAL IMPAIRMENT AND ARE FOCUSED ON BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION AND MANAGEMENT, SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT, AND ACQUISITION AND RETENTION OF DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE SKILLS. THESE SERVICES ARE FOR CHILDREN OR YOUTH WHO HAVE A DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY THAT EFFECTS THEIR EVERYDAY LIVING. EXAMPLES INCLUDE AUTISM, SPECTRUM DISORDERS AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY. SERVICES INCLUDE SKILL BUILDING IN ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING AND BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT. DAILY LIVING SUPPORT - THIS IS AN ADULT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO HELP INDIVIDUALS MAINTAIN THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF INDEPENDENCE POSSIBLE THROUGH SUPERVISION AND THERAPEAUTIC SUPPORT. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS WITH THE TASKS OF DAILY LIVING THAT OCCUR BOTH AT HOME AND IN THE COMMUNITY THROUGH COACHING, CUING AND MODELING.
