Action innovation network, inc., (action), a massachusetts non-profit corporation formed in 2011, is a business league that fosters the association of persons having a common business interest in advancing technology industries throughout new england through business incubation of early-stage companies. Action is a collaborative network of technology business incubators and other entrepreneur support organizations. The network of incubators provides diverse resources and a highly-supportive hub in which entrepreneurs, business leaders, government agencies, community leaders, investors, universities, and other interested organizations can collaborate toward the successful commercialization of technology enterprises that will build a prosperous economy, improve quality of life and sustain the health of our environment. Action is not organized for profit and no part of its net earnings inure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual. Action is dedicated to improving business conditions for technology incubators and organizations by promoting growth and development across the industry. Action is the lead member of the "action network" comprised of not-for- profit, for-profit technology incubators and other entrepreneur support organizations throughout new england.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

Pipeline development and supporting a collaborative network: the purpose of this program is to develop the network including encouraging other incubators to join as members of action. They also aim towards attracting portfolio company participation in action network incubators - attending industry conferences, workshops, and educational forums. Organization of such workshops and educational forums for its incubator members is funded by grants, membership, and sponsorship support.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Attracting international startups into the action network of incubators: action's 2018 eda i6 grant award from the u.s. Department of commerce enables action to build programs to attract and land international scale-up technology companies (e.g. Life science, cleantech, robotics, advanced materials, and marine/maritime) into the action network of business incubators as a first u.s. Office. This created a pipeline of international company introductions to the incubator members of soft landing programs. Further, the grand provides funding to create and support a technology ecosystem asset map, a filterable/sortable mapping system to allow identification of regional technology assets that are relevant to both domestic and international companies. Workshops and stakeholders mixers are arranged for incubator managers to inform and instruct on best practices in supporting international companies in incubation, as well as building community within the network.
