Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15

The Executive Director is reviewed on an annual basis by the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors. The Chair of the Board receives upward appraisals, given anonymously from staff members and compiled by the HR liaison on the Board. The Executive Director's annual review is delivered by the President and Vice President of the Board. Compensation is discussed during a closed session during the Board meeting, and voted upon. The Leadership Team members have mid-year and annual (360 degree) reviews, which include self-assessments and supervisor appraisals, as well as peer feedback during the annual review. Their performance is measured against key performance indicators, annual goals, and core organizational values. All staff member salaries are referenced against currently available compensation reports, includlng but not limited to those provided or purchased from Guidestar, The Nonprofit Times, and various online salary calculators.

IRS990/Desc0World Savvy Classrooms is a signature program designed to integrate global competence education into the classroom, and make it accessible to all students by providing them with diverse cultural and experiential learning opportunities. Through the World Savvy Classrooms program, teachers receive professional development and ongoing coaching to engage their students in inquiry and project-based learning. They integrate global learning into curriculum and instruction across all disciplines, giving students ownership over the subjects they explore, help them make local to global connections, and see themselves as innovators and problem solvers. The Classrooms program is aligned with and supports Common Core State Standards, ensuring that students learn and required 'core' content mandated by state and national standards, in a way that establishes real world connections to the material. Students in World Savvy Classrooms study issues related to a global theme such as population and progress, then identify a specific issue, develop solutions to address the root causes of that issue, then create presentations in original artwork or other forms of media to showcase at a culminating Festival in the spring. Students also develop a "Knowledge-to-Action" plan that demonstrates their innovative thinking and creativity, and outlines how they propose to personally impact the issue. Knowledge-to-Action (K2A) is an integral component of the World Savvy learning model and all students have the chance to compete for funding to implement their plan at the community, national, or global level. Our work with students includes World Savvy's signature Knowledge to Action process, based in design thinking and project-based learning, case studies to support student inquiry, pop-up design thinking challenges, and World Savvy school-based festivals where students have the chance to showcase their work with authentic audiences. Our work with educators include institutes and workshops on integrating global competence into learning environments as well as individualized coaching for implementation and culturally-competent pedagogy. Our work with school and district leaders includes situational assessments and leadership support to imbed global competence more deeply at all levels.

IRS990/MissionDesc0World Savvy is a national nonprofit working with educators and community leaders to reimagine learning for the 21st century and create inclusive, future-ready schools where young people are prepared to thrive in a fast-changing world. We know students must graduate ready not only to succeed in the future, but also to take responsibility for a global community that will require even more resilient peacemakers, courageous problem solvers, and passionate leaders. That's why we're empowering educators to make school inclusive, relevant, and engaging for all students, inspiring them to learn, work, and thrive as responsible global citizens. Our program focuses on systems change by increasing student engagement, expanding educator capacity and cultural competence, and strengthening school and district leadership.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0World Savvy Partnerships with schools and districts: World Savvy partners with stakeholders at all levels, of the education system - educators, schools, districts, and state and national policy makers to develop and implement global competence education, so that all students are prepared to navigate the complexities of college, career, and life. We do this by providing a range of signature programs and services that are specifically targeted to: -Schools and Districts - Build systems that embed global competence education into the organizations' culture, and increase leadership capacity. -Teachers - Develop capacity to consistently integrate global competence teaching and learning across disciplines, and prepare all students for the global reality beyond the classroom. -Students - Enhance engagement and help students establish real worldconnections to the 'core' material they are studying that they develop the critical knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to successfully navigate college, career, and life responsible global citizens. In Fiscal Year 2020, we worked with more than 255 teachers nationwide, who in turn served more than 20,000 students. In Fiscal Year 2018, we activated our first regional "hub" in East Tennessee, to build inclusive, adaptive learning environments for young people that can be sustained over time. This hub will serves as a laboratory for learning about the application of this work in rural areas, and as a springboard for future growth and expansion of the work. In each hub region, we engaged the following key stakeholder groups are necessary to ensure effective implementation and sustainable impact:1. K-12 districts and schools (public and/or private);2. Higher education (graduate schools of education) and community colleges (individual schools and associations);3. Local philanthropy to sustain the work beyond the pilot;4. As appropriate, local NGOs who meet needs in these communities that are unique, critical, or complementary to our efforts. Our East TN hub will continue to work in FY2021.In FY20, World Savvy reached 255 educators/school leaders and nearly 20,000 students. Our team hosted 6 in-person workshops and 10 virtual workshops with the pivot to online programming due to COVID-19, and supported schools in implementing virtual World Savvy festivals for students. We expanded our rural hub model by working with high school students in SE Minnesota to develop solutions to problems they face in their communities. We created 6 new Micro-credentials which allow educators to demonstrate mastery of a range of skills to promote global competence within the K-12 learner experience. And we expanded our online library of engaging, relevant resources for educators grounded in global issues.Micro-credentials provide educators with recognition for the skills they develop throughout their careers, regardless of where or how they learned them. Micro-credentials are competency-based, research-backed, personalized, and on-demand.
