Financial Statement Notes

PART IV, LINE 2B:

The north dakota department of health gives employee tuition assistance to paramedics and emts who meet certain employment requirements. The department of health gives that money to the individual's employer who is then responsible for monitoring the individual's eligibility. When community ambulance service of minot receives these funds, it either distributes them to the employee as earned or returns any funds to the department of health. Distributions are made over a 2-year period.

PART X, LINE 2:

Community ambulance service of minot has been recognized by the internal revenue service (irs) as a not-for-profit corporation as described in section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (irc) and is exempt from federal income taxes pursuant to section 501(a) of the irc. All unrelated business income generated by community ambulance service of minot is subject to federal income tax under 511 of the irc. Community ambulance service of minot's policy is to evaluate the likelihood that its uncertain tax positions will prevail upon examination based on the extent to which those positions have substantial support within the internal revenue code and regulations, revenue rulings, court decisions, and other evidence. It is the opinion of management that the company has no significant uncertain tax positions that would be subject to change upon examination. Community ambulance service of minot's income tax returns are subject to review and examination by federal, state, and local authorities.
