“Members are businesses and individuals doing business in north dakota. Standard member dues are determined by the number of employees employed by the business. Cornerstone members are any business paying over 5,650 in dues. The cornerstone members receive free registration to the policy summit and no other significant membership benefits.”

“The chamber is exempt from federal income tax under provisions of section 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code and from the payment of state income taxes under section 57-38-09 of the north dakota century code. However, the chamber must pay tax on its unrelated business income, which consists of non-dues income, management service contract with nd motor carriers association, and advertising in publications. The chambers policy is to evaluate the likelihood that its uncertain tax positions will prevail upon examination based on the extent to which those positions have substantial support within the internal revenue code and regulations, revenue rulings, court decisions, and other evidence.”
