The 990 tax return is prepared by an outside cpa and reviewed by the executive director and bookkeeper/office manager. A copy of the form 990 is then emailed to each member of the board of trustees for their review and approval.

Each member of the board of trustees receives a copy of the conflict of interest policy annually and potential conflicts of interest are identified thereon by each trustee. Each member certifies the non-existence of conflicts of interest or exceptions. In addition, each member discloses other organizations of which he or she is a board member, a committee member or an employee. Whenever a conflict of interest is encountered, it is disclosed and brought to the attention of the executive director, or when appropriate, the president of the board. The matter is then referred to the board of trustees where the financial transaction is either approved or disapproved by a majority of disinterested trustees.

For the executive director, various goals and objectives are developed and the executive director's evidence of success and areas for improvement are documented by the board of trustees. That information is then confidentially and anonymously provided to the executive committee for discussion and decision making.
