Greater Springfield Area Sports

“The springfield convention and visitors bureau shall provide management and administrative services for the organization for such time as determined by the board. The board may change the entity providing management and administrative services by majority vote.”

“The board of directors shall include representatives from twelve (12) perpetual members, one from each of the following organizations: city of springfield, missouri, springfield greene county park board, springfield convention and visitors bureau, springfield area chamber of commerce, springfield r-12 school district, missouri state university, drury university, city utilities, evangel university, missouri entertainment and event center, springfield cardinals, and missouri sports hall of fame. All board members shall be elected by a majority vote of the entire board.”

“State high school activities association mshsaa events supported by the springfield sports commission included state spring softball championships, state fall softball championships, state golf championships for boys and girls, state tennis championships for boys and girls, and state baseball championships. National christian homeschool basketball championships 350 basketball teams from across the country attend the 6 day tournament in springfield. National christian homeschool spring nationals the spring nationals normally feature over 1,000 athletes in springfield competing in soccer, track & field and golf championships. Midwest cheer & dance competition 700 athletes from around the midwest competed at the springfield expo center. The springfield sports commission awards event was held june 2024. The recognition event which celebrates the outstanding athletic achievements in area scholastic athletics in the region. This year's event had over 900 in attendance. Additional events support of events such as the local hall of fames, missouri sports hall of fame induction ceremonies, bass pro tournament of champions, korn ferry golf championship, queen city basketball showcase, forever our legacy gymnastics tour, pba pete weber classic, missouri usa wrestling state championship series, usa bmx, midwest cheer & dance and usa ultimate”

“Lines 1a and 2a & part ix, lines 5, 7, 8, 9 & 10 the organization contracts with the springfield convention and visitors bureau to file all employee payroll taxes and w-3 filings. The salary expenses, payroll taxes, and employee benefits listed on part ix are amounts reimbursed to the springfield convention and visitors bureau.”
