Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our mission is to train our students in the creative arts and academics with excellence and to equip them to use the arts and their skills effectively in their lives, impacting the community.

Dayspring arts and education was created in september 1993 a group of artists who are seeking a different kind of arts education for their children. Remembering their own struggles as young artist, they dreamed of a place with her children could receive quality technical training in a secure and nurturing environment that would prepare them to deal gracefully with the realities of life in the competitive world of the arts. Beginning with only 30 students in a handful of classes, the school grew rapidly in its early years, largely through word-of-mouth and recommendations. In 1998, dayspring incorporated as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization with a committed board of directors. FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

In january 1999, the school moved into a larger facility, which provided room for 3 dance/performing arts studios, several classrooms/music studios as well as offices. Today the school is home to the 750 students, with a structured multidisciplinary arts program that emphasizes the importance of technical excellence and character training. Our program has expanded to include several departments which include performing arts (musical theater, drama, circus arts and backstage), dance (ballet, tap, jazz and modern), music (private lessons and classes), and the academy (academics for homeschoolers in a university model format). These departments maintain individual policies and standards, while sharing a common vision and common resources. Our vision is to build strong foundation in lives, young and old, to sustain their fully developed god given gifts, and for them to be enjoyed, celebrated and utilized in those lives for a lifetime. Communities will be enriched by the impact of those lives demonstrating how to live with excellent character and skill, enhance creativity, critical thought, collaboration and passion for their calling. We value excellence (in relationships, attitudes and character, artistry and performance, technique and skill, and in the environment where we teach and learn), character development (to build foundations of self-discipline, responsibility, kindness, confidence, respect, service, and leadership), skills that will serve our students well in any path they choose (technical skills for their field, communications, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and an attitude of contribution to the community), and community (creating a culture that is engaging, serving, partnering, and providing outside experiences to enrich students' perspective).

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Provide arts instructions and performance. We will expand our unique offerings and impact to our community by regular reaching out to the targeted schools, districts, city governments, organizations and businesses. Our strategy to continue and grow our work is to develop a department to be devoted to this effort.
