“Form 990-ez, part iii - primary exempt purpose bam is a group of individuals interested in learning, teaching, preserving, and promoting blacksmithing. Membership is open to all individuals regardless of skill level or abilities. It is an affiliate of abana, the artist blacksmiths association of north america, although abana membership is not a requirement for bam membership. It was organized in 1983 by bob patrick and a small group of people who were interested in this acient craft. Since then this group has grown to over 500 members in missouri and other states. Bams members vary from full time professional blacksmiths to weekend hobby blacksmiths, all from a variety of backgrounds. Experience levels vary from several decades to just starting. Bam has organized and hosted blacksmithing events ranging from rebional workshops to national level conferences with international demonstrators. A statewide conference is held annually. Form 990-3x, part iii, line 28 - first accomplishment newsletter, meetings, libary: published six times per year, the bam newsletters responsibility is to support the goals and purpose of bam. Letters to the editor. Tech tips, tools for sale or anything else to further these ends will be considered for publication. There are several workshops hosted throughout the year. Blacksmithing related libary of books and electronic media that can be checked out by the we have approximately 500 members across the state and neighboring states. We hold 6 meetings a year in addition to our annual conference. We hold them in various locations across the state to make them accessible. We normally have 50 to 80 members attend each meeting, each meeting starts with a 3 to 3.5 hour demonstration of blacksmithing designed to instruct the attendees on proper techniques. At the meeting we also have a library of publications that members can check out for free. Membership comes with receiving 6 editions ( 1 every 2 months) of our newsletter. Form 990-ez, part iii, line 29 - second accomplishment coal: 22.5 tons of coal is made available to members and non-members across the state. Members form 990-ez, part iii, line 30 - third accomplishment conference: annual ozark blacksmith conference on the first weekend in may. It consists of well-known smiths, vendors, tailgate sales, banquet meal, and benefit auction. The conference has roughly 300 attendees. Besides the demonstrators, tailgaters, vendors, auctions, we offer classes for beginning blacksmith and those that wish to part a national curriculum sponsored the artist-blacksmith association of narth america (abana.) form 990-ez, part iii, line 31 - all other accomplishments mobile training station (mts) is hosted at various sites throughout missouri.”
