Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Other

Pt.I, line 8 - The advertising revenue is from advertising in concert and fundraiser programs. The revenue is more for support/sponsorship for the organization rather than actual advertising of a commercial nature. The number of individuals who receive the programs at the events is limited, most likely fewer than if the same amount was spent on commercial advertising such as mailers or in newspapers. The reason for soliciting the revenue isn't to be in competition with a for-profit business for the ad revenue. The messages don't include price information or other promotional info that would be considered commercial advertising. In some cases volunteers solicit the revenue. Due to these factors it appears that the revenue is not subject to Unrelated Business Taxable Income and a 990-T is not required.

Other

Part III, line 28a - continued. HEARTH & HOME was a celebration of the holiday season as well as cherishing the sense of family --those we're born with and those we make for ourselves. The show opened with a rousing rendition of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". From there, the audience was treated to a wide variety of selections that celebrated the sacred, the secular, and the irreverent traditions of the season, including a staged "Snowball" fight set to the tunes of Charlie Brown. In March 2020, the Chorus was finishing its preparations for the staging of its March concert, PRIDE & PREJUDICE. Set to be an examination of the core strengths of the LGBTQIA+ community as well as casting light upon the prejudices within our community, this concert had the potential to raise some very important issues within our community. Alas, the covid-19 pandemic sidelined public concerts just as we were entering our performance week, and the GMC was forced to place many of the public aspects of its organization on-hold. For much of the remainder of the year, we turned our attentions to our internal community, hosting weekly rehearsals for our members - in the advent that the pandemic would end and allow us to perform. While we were not able to take the stage again, it still allowed our members a chance to stay connected and produce music - even if they couldn't do so from within the same room.

Other

Part III, line 28a - The program expense portion is 91% of total expenses due to the fact that most of the management and fundraising functions are performed by Board Members and other volunteers.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Pt.I, line 8 - The advertising revenue is from advertising in concert and fundraiser programs.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Part III, line 28a - continued.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2Part III, line 28a - The program expense portion is 91% of total expenses due to the fact that most of the management and fundraising functions are performed by Board Members and other volunteers.
