“The 990 is prepared by the outside accounting firm and provided to management for review and discussion, changes, if any, are incorporated and the 990 is provided to the executive committee. Upon approval by the executive committee the 990 is made available to the entire board of directors prior to being filed with the internal revenue service.”

“Nutrition counseling each client receives medical nutrition therapy mnt through an initial intake with our registered dieticians to assess their nutritional status and to begin dietary education and nutrition plans. These plans take into account state of illness, living situations, eating capcity, mobility and secondary complications including diabetes, liver and heart disease. We encourage clients to meet with our dietitian at least every six months. Clients taking liquid nutritional supplements must communicate with the dietitian at least every three months using the individualized nutrition plan created by our registered dietitian.”

“Meals and grocery the integrated medically tailored meals and groceries program is one of our core services. Clients are provided the equavilent of 2 meals per day, for 2 or 4 weeks at a time through menu options offered in our lobby at no charge to them. Our focus is on balanced and individualized nutrition plans. We have expanded our home delivery program to approx 500 clients, who receive the equivalent of 2 meals per day for one month. Our home delivery and in agency nutrition options provide our scratch prepared, frozen entrees and sides, fresh vegatables and fruit, frozen meat, and shelf-stables.”

“Food outreach serves clients living at or below 300 of the federal poverty level fpl at no charge. Clients living above the 300 fpl can still receive nutritional counseling. Due to poverty and chronic illness, more people in the st louis region are turning to our unique services. Over 72 of the people we serve live on less than 100 fpl. During 2024, food outreach delivered 601,680 meals, a 6.5 increase from 2023, providing nutrition services to 1,974 individuals living with with economic and medical fragility. Of this number served, we welcomed 548 new clients.”

“Nutrition education food outreach has been using monthly educational presentations made by our staff and dietetic interns which can be found playing in our lobby and on our website. During covid, the agency installed a web based, hippa compliant application called healthie. This gives our clients several ways to communicate with our registered dietitians for questions and to access other learning resources related to their nutrition needs.”
