“The salem area chamber of commerce is a volunteer driven organization that improves and promotes an atmosphere that enables the community to grow and prosper. The chamber works to accomplish its purpose by serving as the voice of the salem business community and by representing our members in government affairs at local, state and federal levels. The chamber also works to accomplish its purpose by providing members with networking, promotional and educational opportunities as well as information and business assistance. Established in 1930, the salem area chamber of commerce has served the salem and dent county community for more than 90 years. The salem area chamber of commerce is a member of the missouri chamber of commerce, meramec regional planning commission, and ozark heritage tourism association.”

“A business expo, contests/parades and other assorted activities promote the salem area and all of its benefits. Monthly chamber meetings are held as a means to get the business community together for a program and learn more about the community.”

“The remainder of the expenses relate to the chambers other general programs which deal with the promotion of the city of salem/dent county area for its educational, business and tourism opportunities. The salem chamber of commerce acts as the tourism department for the salem community. Projects are determined and presented to the local dent county tourism board for advertising on billboards, signs, magazines and activities to promote the salem/dent county area. The tourism board reimburses the salem chamber of commerce for pre-approved expenditures made for these purposes. The tourism board is appointed by the dent county commission and is funded by a 2% tourism tax charged to motel/short term rental guests who visit dent county, missouri.”

“The chamber continued special covid-19 safety measures for meetings and office safety. The costs were paid by the chamber to ensure safety of those attending meetings and visiting the office.”
