“Form 990ez serviceswe are changing the ways in which the sandhills of nc live, work, and play.1. Our green schools program has saved cumberland county schools over two million dollars by teaching faculty and students that conserving energy and resources adds up to big savings.2. Our green business program has certified 100+ green businesses and municipal entities in our sandhills region teaching employees and their bosses how to save money and resources, become more efficient and contribute to their communitys well-being through sustainable actions at work and at home.3. Over 3000 people have screened our environmental and thought provoking films in our region. Our film screenings get people talking about important regional and national issues, from local food to water. 4. Through our many events and programs, we personally engage with thousands of our local residents, becoming the go to organization for awareness and education of sustainable initiatives.5. Each may and november we help host household hazardous waste disoposal day with cumberland county officials.6. Between 2000 and 2010 our population grew by 15.8%. Our population is expected to increase from 9.5 to 12.4 million by 2030. Our green growth program works to conserve priority wildlife habitat and protect important ecosystem services while homes, businesses, and roads are developed. 7. We are working to safeguard the cape fear river and improve our drinking water by advocating for increased low impact development standards, reduced use of pollutants, and maintaining vegated stream buffers that help filter run off.8. We are addressing climate change by creating a climate adaptation plan for cumberland county.”
