Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Nppc is exempt under section 501(c)(5) of the internal revenue code of 1986. The pork pac operates as a political organization under section 527(f)(3) of the internal revenue code. Apex is a taxable corporation. Nppc recognizes income tax expense incurred for unrelated business taxable income producing activities in the year in which the activities take place. Income tax expense is included as part of policy and administration expenses in the consolidated statements of activities. The council files various federal or state nonprofit tax returns. The council is no longer subject to u.s. Federal or state examinations by tax authorities for tax years prior to 2020.
