Pt VI, Line 6

The organization has members. Any person may be a county Farm Bureau member. All county Farm Bureau members have voting rights and the same access to member benefits.

The organizations members elect the Board of Directors.

Pt VI, Line 7B

Certain rights are reserved to members of the organization, including: 1) elect the Board of Directors, including the voting delegate to the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, 2) adopt amendments to the Articles of Incorporation, and 3) adopt amendments to those bylaws designated as member bylaws.

Pt VI, Line 11B

Management reviews the documents and presents the return to all members of the governing body. Following final board approval, the return is signed by an officer and submitted to the IRS.

Pt VI, Line 12C

On an annual basis, all officers, directors, and key employees are required to sign a statement which affirms that they have: 1) received a copy of the conflict of interest policy, 2) read and understood the policy, 3) agreed to comply with the policy, 4) understand that the Organization is tax-exempt and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities which accomplish its tax-exempt purpose. A sub-committee, comprised of non-conflicted Board of Directors, annually receives all conflict of interest information, reviews, and determines if there are conflicts of interest. The committee then reports its findings back to the Board.

The Organization does not make its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, or financial statements available for public inspection. Pursuant to state law, some documents may be available to members.

Part III, Line 4a - Education - The organization employs an Ag in the Classroom Coordinator. This year, the coordinator was able to make over 5,000 student contacts. The coordinator, along with several volunteers and community partners, conducted an Ag Fair for all 2nd grade students and a rural Drivers Education Program for 9th grade students. A scholarship committee was formed and provided scholarships to local students planning to attend college.

Part III, Line 4b - Public Relations - The organization participates in and sponsors many events for the benefit of members and the larger community. They held their annual grocery cart races which resulted in healthy foods, along with monetary donations, being donated to local food pantries. The Mitchell County Farm Bureau utilizes their tractor cab simulator at several events. The cab is fitted with a farming simulator to allow community members the opportunity to see what farming in a real tractor is like. Through the annual 4th of July BBQ hosted by the organization, community members learned about Farm Bureau. They participate in the county fair by donating apples to Little Hands on the Farm program. They used signs at the fair to promote agriculture in Mitchell County. They also actively use social media to promote Farm Bureau and agriculture.

Other

Part III, Line 4c - Policy Development - The organization is engaged in policy development at the local and state levels. An opinionnaire is sent to members to gather input on local, state, and national issues. Results are reviewed and used to develop county resolutions, which are used to help influence policy. The board is very active in hosting and attending local legislative meetings, attending annual meetings and days at the State Capitol and attending regional policy development meetings. Locally, the board invites county supervisors and school officials to attend a meeting and discuss local needs. The board hosted a county supervisor forum and published responses in the paper to inform voters about the upcoming primary election.

A sub-committee, comprised of non-conflicted Board of Directors, annually receives all conflict of interest information, reviews, and determines if there are conflicts of interest. The committee then reports its findings back to the Board.
