Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Other

Part III, Line 4a - Ag Education - The Allamakee County Farm Bureau supports the wages of an Outreach Coordinator, whose main role is to provide agriculture education to local schools. In 2024, the Outreach Coordinator had 22 lessons with 138 different teachers. There were 2,672 students impacted by this work. Lessons included information about plant cycles, livestock, biology, and more. The most popular program was chick hatching in classrooms. Students learned the life cycle and biology involved with chick hatching.

Other

Part III, Line 4b - Farm Safety Event - The Allamakee County Farm Bureau partnered with the local hospital and Allamakee County Sheriffs Department to conduct Farm Secure Training. This event was a roundtable discussion of common emergency situations in the county and the average wait time for assistance from fire, police, and medical personnel. There were 40 members in attendance who also learned the basics of CPR and how to use a tourniquet in cases of emergency.

Other

Part III, Line 4c - Policy Development - Allamakee County Farm Bureau met with state and national legislators on the phone for town halls to discuss issues of importance and issues affecting agriculture. In February, they met with the County Supervisors to discuss issues affecting members and the community. The county Farm Bureau developed an opinionnaire to distribute to members seeking their input on local as well as national issues of importance. The opinionnaire was sent by email and could also be picked up at the county Farm Bureau office. At the June meeting, all members were invited to provide input on the resolutions that were proposed by the Policy Development Committee. The resolutions were later passed by the Board of Directors.

Pt VI, Line 6

The organization has members. Any person may be a county Farm Bureau member. All county Farm Bureau members have voting rights and the same access to member benefits.

Pt VI, Line 7A

The organizations members elect the Board of Directors.

Pt VI, Line 7B

Certain rights are reserved to members of the organization, including: 1) elect the Board of Directors, including the voting delegate to the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, 2) adopt amendments to the Articles of Incorporation, and 3) adopt amendments to those bylaws designated as member bylaws.

Pt VI, Line 11B

Management reviews the documents and presents the return to all members of the governing body. Following final board approval, the return is signed by an officer and submitted to the IRS.

Pt VI, Line 12C

On an annual basis, all officers, directors, and key employees are required to sign a statement which affirms that they have: 1) received a copy of the conflict of interest policy, 2) read and understood the policy, 3) agreed to comply with the policy, 4) understand that the Organization is tax-exempt and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities which accomplish its tax-exempt purpose. A sub-committee, comprised of non-conflicted Board of Directors, annually receives all conflict of interest information, reviews, and determines if there are conflicts of interest. The committee then reports its findings back to the Board.

Pt VI, Line 19

The Organization does not make its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, or financial statements available for public inspection. Pursuant to state law, some documents may be available to members.

Pt VI, Line 2

Rick Weymiller, Eric Weymiller, and Ross Weymiller have a family relationship.

Form 990, Part IX, Line 11G

Contract labor 23366.

Financial Statement Notes

Pt V, Line 4

The Board designated funds are invested in a diversified portfolio that will provide a source of investment income to support the Organizations programs on a long-term basis.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Part III, Line 4a - Ag Education - The Allamakee County Farm Bureau supports the wages of an Outreach Coordinator, whose main role is to provide agriculture education to local schools.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Part III, Line 4b - Farm Safety Event - The Allamakee County Farm Bureau partnered with the local hospital and Allamakee County Sheriffs Department to conduct Farm Secure Training. This event was a roundtable discussion of common emergency situations in the county and the average wait time for assistance from fire, police, and medical personnel. There were 40 members in attendance who also learned the basics of CPR and how to use a tourniquet in cases of emergency.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2Part III, Line 4c - Policy Development - Allamakee County Farm Bureau met with state and national legislators on the phone for town halls to discuss issues of importance and issues affecting agriculture.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3The organization has members. Any person may be a county Farm Bureau member. All county Farm Bureau members have voting rights and the same access to member benefits.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4The organizations members elect the Board of Directors.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5Certain rights are reserved to members of the organization, including: 1) elect the Board of Directors, including the voting delegate to the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, 2) adopt amendments to the Articles of Incorporation, and 3) adopt amendments to those bylaws designated as member bylaws.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt6Management reviews the documents and presents the return to all members of the governing body. Following final board approval, the return is signed by an officer and submitted to the IRS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt7On an annual basis, all officers, directors, and key employees are required to sign a statement which affirms that they have: 1) received a copy of the conflict of interest policy, 2) read and understood the policy, 3) agreed to comply with the policy, 4) understand that the Organization is tax-exempt and in order to maintain its federal tax exemption it must engage primarily in activities which accomplish its tax-exempt purpose. A sub-committee, comprised of non-conflicted Board of Directors, annually receives all conflict of interest information, reviews, and determines if there are conflicts of interest. The committee then reports its findings back to the Board.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt8The Organization does not make its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, or financial statements available for public inspection. Pursuant to state law, some documents may be available to members.
