“Part III, Line 28 - Ag Education - The organization's outreach coordinator was able to be in 2 classrooms in a local school doing Embryology units prior to schools closing for COVID. Those chicks also visited a local library for a "Eggs and Chicks" story time that reached an additional group of children. Board members spent time reading to children at three public libraries around the county for "Farm Story TimeX and donated the farm books to those libraries. The county fair was cancelled due to COVID except for the 4-H and FFA exhibits and livestock shows. The organization worked with local families to create videos on 8 different animals for an "At Home Ag Learning Center" during the week the fair would have been taking place. The organization awarded four scholarships to deserving local high school students.”

“Part III, Line 29 - Ag Promotion - The county fair was cancelled due to COVID except for the 4-H and FFA exhibits and livestock shows. The organization promoted those events online for the fair. The organization hosts an annual Breakfast Battle in which local businesses participate in grocery shopping races and donate food to local food pantries. This event had to be cancelled due to COVID, however, the board still made the monetary donations to the food pantries and challenged local businesses to do the same. This received coverage from the local paper and was covered on social media. The organization sponsors and donates to support 4-H, the Governors Steer Show, and various other organizations. They donated significant funds to local food pantries as well as a large quantity of frozen meat. This was also covered in the local paper and online. According to the calculation that the pantries use for their impacts, that would mean over 10,000 meals provided for food insecure families in our area. Based on the numbers provided by the pantries, they serve nearly 1,000 individuals and 250 households in the county (approximately 10% of the population).”

“Part III, Line 30 - Policy - The organization co-hosted a legislative forum with legislators present to discuss policy items via video conference and they send a voting delegate to attend policy conferences to advocate for local views. The organization sends out an opinionnaire to gather input from members before setting county resolutions for the year. The resolutions are used to influence policy. They reached out to district superintendents/school officials in the area to allow the administrators to share ideas on policy issues affecting educations in rural areas. Several members participate in the process to raise and prioritize issues along with other counties across the state.”
