The association is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)4 of the internal revenue code. The association is also exempt from minnesota franchise or income tax. The association is required to assess whether an uncertain tax position exists and if there should be recognition of a related benefit or liability in the financial statements. The association has determined there are no amounts to record as assets or liabilities related to uncertain tax positions. Generally, the association is no longer subject to examination by tax authorities for years before 2011.
