Neighborhood associations (nas): established as a nonprofit in 2001, rneighbors works to bring neighbors together to assist neighborhoods with tools and resources to keep their organizations strong and healthy. Each of our programs and partnerships work towards getting neighbors out of their houses to interact and develop relationships. In 2024, there were currently 29 registered nas in rochester. Welcome to the latest groups to organize in 2023, including the brand new northern heights park na. The registered association (na) boundaries represent at least 20,748 households of the estimated 39,450 residential parcels in rochester.in short, rneighbors provides resources for over half(52%) of the residences in rochester. In addition, resources are available for nonregistered neighborhood groups such as the meadow park initiative. Rneighbors continues to facilitate the mayor's council of neighborhoods that consists of representatives from 29 different associations. The mission of this group is to strengthen connections between neighborhood leaders and give neighborhoods a collective voice. One item we heard repeatedly from the focus groups was that neighborhood leaders wanted time to just be social, learn from others in their positions and get to know the rneighbors board members.

Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 29

Neighborhood project grants: rneighbors has offered neighborhood project grants since 2015. There were 18 neighborhood project grants (npg) awarded in 2024, compared to 13 in 2023. Chalk the block (est. 2020): "in september, chalk the block 2024 featured 17 local artists drawing 14 chalk murals across the city, in neighborhoods including parks and schools, and in front of small businesses. A public scavenger hunt led citizens to each mural, covering over 400 feet of colorful asphalt we bike rochester partnered to create both a walking and bike route. 1,000 packs of promo chalk were distributed and rneighbors experienced 2,515 facebook interactions (week of event). Artists designed their murals around the inspiring theme "nothing can dim the light which shines from within," a stirring quote by maya angelou. The goal of this event was for citizens to connect across rochester and express themselves through creating poetry and sidewalk chalk murals with the theme of creating memorable connections.
