The mission of Theater LattE' Da (the Organization) is to create new connections between story, music, artist and audience by exploring and expanding the art of musical theater.Theater LattE' Da has created a new voice for musical theater that both respects and challenges its audiences through diverse stories that are intimate, amusing and enlightening. The Organization has grown into one of the only mid-size theater organizations in the Twin Cities, maturing from simple cabaret styles to creating works that experiment with original formats and unique storytelling techniques. Since its inception, the Organization has held fast to its mission, and through its advancement, is filling a unique niche in the arts community. “The Organization has a tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and has adopted Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes, ASC 740-10. The Organization's policy is to evaluate uncertain tax positions, at least annually, for the potential for income tax exposure from unrelated business income or from loss of nonprofit status. The Organization continues to operate consistent with its original exemption application and each year takes the necessary actions to maintain its exempt status. It has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under the Internal Revenue Code and charitable contributions by donors are tax deductible.”

Theater Latte Da produced five mainstage productions that were inspired by the richness of the human spirit with emphasis on the storytelling as well as the music. The season opened with a record breaking production of Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and closed with the world premiere of C. In between were the original production of All is Calm:The Christmas Truce of 1914, Gypsy and a second world premiere, Lullaby. Artistic Director Peter Rothstein was named the Star Tribune's artist of the year.New Work Development. Theater Latte Da brought two new works from its NEXT:Musicals in the Making series to full production in the FY2016 season. C and Lullaby were well received. Three new musicals were workshopped in NEXT along with an additional workshop for a NEXT show from a few years ago. |
