The project holds in trust, security deposits advanced by the tenants of the project. The project records these deposits plus interest as a liability.

PART X, LINE 2:

No provision for income taxes has been made in these financial statements. The project is a non-profit corporation and, therefore, is exempt from federal and state income taxes. The project is not a private foundation, and contributions to the project qualify as a charitable tax deduction by the contributor. The project follows the guidance in the income tax standard regarding the recognition and measurement of uncertain tax positions. The application of this standard has no impact on the project's financial statements.

IS A PART OF A 30 ACRE SENIOR LIVING CAMPUS IN SAUK RAPIDS, MINNESOTA WHICH INCLUDES SKILLED NURSING FACILITY CARE, SUB-ACUTE/SHORT-TERM REHABILITATION SERVICES, CONGREGATE DINING, SKILLED HOME CARE SERVICES, ASSISTED LIVING SERVICES, MEMORY CARE SERVICES, AND INDEPENDENT LIVING APARTMENTS. MOST OF THE BUILDINGS ARE CONNECTED THROUGH ENCLOSED LINKS ALLOWING TENANTS TO FREELY MOVE BETWEEN BUILDINGS TO MEET FRIENDS OR ENJOY A WALK INSIDE AVOIDING HARSH MINNESOTA WINTER CONDITIONS. IF A TENANT OF SHEPHERD OAK WEST APARTMENTS NEEDS SERVICES BEYOND SIMPLE HOUSING, SUCH AS MEALS, HOME CARE, OR ASSISTED LIVING, THOSE SERVICES ARE MET BY GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN HOME OF SAUK RAPIDS, MINNESOTA STAFF IN THE TENANT APARTMENT. THIS ALLOWS THE TENANT TO REMAIN IN THEIR HOME FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. INDEPENDENT TENANTS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN ANY ACTIVITY PROGRAM OFFERED TO THE TENANTS WITH ASSISTED LIVING SERVICES. EXERCISE PROGRAMS, POKENO, CARD CLUBS, BINGO, MOVIE NIGHT, QUILTING BEE, OUTSIDE MUSIC GROUPS, OUTSIDE SPEAKERS TO DISCUSS AREAS OF CONCERNS SUCH AS SCAMS AND MEDICARE QUESTION & ANSWER, REMINISCING TIMES, AND RED HAT SOCIETY ARE JUST A FEW OF THE ACTIVITIES THAT OCCUR AT SHEPHERD OAK WEST APARTMENTS. THE CAMPUS INCLUDES A CHAPEL WHERE VARIOUS FAITH DENOMINATIONS COME TO PROVIDE WEEKLY SPIRITUAL SERVICES. THE ENCLOSED LINKS ALLOW TENANTS TO WALK TO THE CHAPEL WITH EASE. THE CHAPEL IS OPEN 24 HOURS AND TENANTS ARE WELCOME TO USE THE CHAPEL WHENEVER NEEDED. THE CHAPEL HAD BEEN THE SITE FOR WEDDINGS, BAPTISMS, FUNERALS, AND FAMILY REUNIONS. SHEPHERD OAK WEST APARTMENTS ALSO RECEIVES FUNDING FROM HUD FOR A SOCIAL SERVICE COORDINATOR TO ASSIST TENANTS WITH THEIR PSYCHOSOCIAL NEEDS. TENANTS MEET WITH THE SOCIAL SERVICE COORDINATOR TO DISCUSS SERVICES THAT ARE NEEDED, SUCH AS ASSISTANCE WITH PAYING OF BILLS, AND VARIOUS OTHER SERVICES. THE APARTMENT MANAGER IS ONSITE 20 HOURS PER WEEK TO ASSIST TENANTS WITH SERVICES AS WELL.TENANTS OF SHEPHERD OAK WEST APARTMENTS HAVE MONTHLY TENANT COUNCIL MEETINGS TO DISCUSS WITH MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMING WHAT IS WORKING WELL AND ITEMS THAT MAY NEED TO BE IMPROVED UPON. THE CAMPUS ALSO INCLUDES A FOUNDATION THAT RAISES FUNDS SO THAT SHEPHERD OAK WEST APARTMENTS CAN HAVE A COMPUTER IN ITS COMMON AREA FOR ALL TENANTS TO USE. VOLUNTEERS ARE HELPING TENANTS LEARN TO USE SKYPE, FACEBOOK, AND E-MAIL TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES. OTHER TENANTS HAVE BEGUN TO ORDER THEIR GROCERIES, DO BANKING, AND TAKE CARE OF OTHER NEEDS ONLINE TO BE DELIVERED TO THEIR APARTMENT USING THE COMPUTER IN THE COMMON AREA.
