Every year this policy is reviewed by the governing body and staff members and they are asked to sign the written policy indicating their compliance. The policy asked all governing body and staff members to identify conflicts before decisions are made on contracts and before financial decisions.

Ney hired outside independent consultants to do a salary survey and provide compensation recommendations for the Ney key staff positions, they used the MN Council of Nonprofits Salary and Benefits survey and other data specific to Nature Centers. Ney governing board met specifically (multiple times) to go over the data and set the compensation levels for each key staff member upon receiving the results from the consultants.
