IRS990/Desc0Convening and Campaigns - In 2015, Voices for Racial Justice convenes the Education Equity Organizing Collaborative which leads the Education Equity Project. VRJ continued working with the OUR MPLS racial equity agenda using it as a tool for 25 community partners to advance a shared vision with city leaders. Other convenings continue in five communities throughout Minnesota, engaging local leaders of color in articulating a narative and developing an agenda for racial equity at the local and regional levels. Research and Policy - VRJ continued to work with communities around statewide Racial Agenda that brought together priorities of 25 partners and was a powerful lobbying tool engaging 60 groups during the 2015 legislative session. Other tools developed include the OUR MPLS agenda, continued education equity research and organizing tools, opinion pieces, and video narratives from communities throughout the state. VRJ implements Health Equity Programs in partnership with organizers across the state to embed health equity in multiple policies that advance the well-being of communities of color. VRJ works with the Minnesota Department of Health to train state employees on racial justice and health equity issues.
