Activity 2

Hiv education and prevention:education and training services provides formal hiv education and speakers for various community and professional groups.-delivered hiv instructors training to 88 individuals-designed a two training curriculum for licensed alcohol and drug counselors titled: the intersection of chemical health and hiv. Delivered this training at 4 sites throughout the state of mn, reaching 61 individuals-provided basic hiv education in-person at 148 events, reaching 4,128 individuals-distributed 3,786 pieces of hiv educational material to the general publichiv education and prevention (continued)outreach services are part of an effort to reduce hiv, stds and hepatitis c infections among individual at high risk due to substance using behaviors. -provided individual outreach and education interventions including syringe exchange to 771 unduplicated clients with 2,886 syringe exchange meetings designed to reduce hiv and hepatitis c risk from injecting drug use or due to other substance use risk behaviors.-conducted hiv rapid testing and counseling sessions for 59 individuals in substance abuse treatment, methadone maintenance, and street outreach sessions.

Activity 3

Emergency assistance:emergency assistance program targets very low-income clients (those living up to 175% of federal poverty guidelines) living with hiv, and provides short-term assistance with unanticipated housing, utilities, food and medical expenses. In fy 2011, map provided assistance to 1,493 low-income individuals throughout minnesota.
