FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The great river arts association exists to enrich lives by providing arts experiences and services to the people of morrison county and the surrounding communities. Gra combined programming (performing, visual, grtv, and arts education engaged more than 10,000 attendees in fy 2019.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Great river arts (gra) has a long standing partnership wtih the morrison county government center and the family medical clinic at st gabriel's health in little falls, as satellite galleries, showcasing visual arts. In addition, staff also oversees two free art galleries (main and front)located onsite at gra (122 first street se, little falls). In fy 19, gra curated 16 exhibits that featured the work of 177 artists. This year, gra began a pilot program with a local business - "curate by gra" to add an additional (temporary) satellite gallery location in morrison county that is currently showing the work of four artists. This summer, through a special partnership with the visitor's bureau, gra developed a community mural, in which one local artist worked with 235 individuals (both youth and adults) to complete the project. In addition to visual arts, 50 artisans have art pieces consigned and available for sale in the retail space.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Under gra's performing arts programming, 46 events (featuring 211 artists) were hosted including two community dinner theatre productions - comprised of 15 shows and 18 ticketed musical/live performances; along with a variety of free events including two youth theatre productions, eight open mic night (omn) events - in which the community was invited to share their talents (poetry, music, voice, spoken word, etc.) on the stage, fashion trashion runway show, poetry slam and rock the park - an annual performing and arts education event that drew more than 1000 attendees. Great river television (grtv) programming is a unique community resource that provides more than 2100 hours of free content - accessible on public access channel 180/6 and youtube. In addition staff supported 19 private rentals - connecting our space to community members.
