Minndependent connects and strengthens minnesota's private and independent schools through programming, partnerships and public policy so members can be student-centered and mission-driven.our vision is a vibrant educational ecosystem that promotes success for all minnesota students.we create meaningful professional development opportunities and resources for educators, educational leaders and school communities to build exceptional schools and deliver high-quality education for all students.we foster authentic relationships with funders, businesses and community organizations on behalf of member schools, resulting in grants, in-kind services and professional resources.we advocate with a focused and united voice for the interests of private and independent schools, ensuring that local and state policy makers will understand and support policies and practices that strengthen minnesota's private and independent schools.

Misf is the largest organization serving independent and private k-12 education in minnesota. Misf helps inform lawmakers, policy makers, and the general public about the contributions that independent education makes to our state and society. Relationships are built with donors to support targeted programs, and member schools are provided with professional development, resources, stem education, connections and expertise in critical disciplines.

The chairman and vice-chairman used an outside human resources consultant to conduct a 360 degree performance review of the president. Feedback was gathered from various stakeholders and performance measured against annual goals. Market data for similar non-profit roles was considered; pay adjustment was determined based upon both market data and performance eval. President recommended pay adjustments for staff based upon market data and performance evals. Chair and vice chair reviewed recommendations with the exec committee for final approval.

PIONEERING ENGINEERING EDUCATOR, YVONNE NG, KICKED OFF THE DAY BY DESCRIBING THE EIGHT TRAITS OF AN ENGINEER THAT TEACHERS CAN IDENTIFY AND NURTURE IN CHILDREN THUS LEADING THEM TO SATISFYING AND PRODUCTIVE STEM CAREERS. TWENTY BREAKOUT SESSIONS, TAILORED SPECIFICALLY FOR EDUCATORS IN GRADES K-4, 5-8 AND 9-12, COVERED A WIDE RANGE OF SUBJECTS. THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY OF THIS YEAR'S SEMINAR SPONSORS OVER $8,000 IN DOOR PRIZES WERE GIVEN AWAY TO ATTENDEES. 2) FACILITATED ACCESS TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES IN STEM EDUCATION SUCH AS THE SCIENCE MUSEUM OF MINNESOTA'S SCIENCE HOUSE. FIFTY-FOUR TEACHERS FROM 19 MISF MEMBER SCHOOLS VISITED SCIENCE HOUSE 178 TIMES FROM SEPTEMBER 2013 THROUGH MAY 2014. TEACHERS CHECKED OUT 727 SETS/ITEMS FROM THE SCIENCE HOUSE LIBRARY OF STEM CURRICULAR MATERIALS INCLUDING MODELS, SPECIMENS, EQUIPMENT, LESSON PLANS, MANIPULATIVES, AND MEDIA. 3) A GRANT PROGRAM FOR MEMBER SCHOOLS. ON MAY 13TH, AT THIS YEAR'S MINNESOTA PRIVATE AND INDEPENDENT EDUCATION AWARDS EVENT, MISF AWARDED 33 SCHOOLS OVER $120,000 IN STEM GRANTS. TO DATE, MISF HAS AWARDED 105 GRANTS TOTALING $554,342.
