THE MISSION STATEMENT OF THE ASSOCIATION STATES THAT "ARM IS COMMITTED TO THE AGGREGATE & READY MIX INDUSTRIES THROUGH PROMOTION, EDUCATION, ENVIRONMENT, & GOVERNMENT ISSUES." THE ASSOCIATION WAS FOUNDED IN 1950 & INCORPORATED IN 1972. ARM MEMBERS SERVE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE NATIONAL READY MIX CONCRETE ASSOCIATION (NRMCA) AND ARE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL STONE, SAND & GRAVEL ASSOCIATION (NSSGA) AND THE PCA-NC STEERING COMMITTEE. ARM RECOGNIZES THE OUTSTANDING WORK OF ITS MEMBERSHIP ANNUALLY THROUGH ITS BUILDING EXCELLENCE AWARDS. ARM ALSO ORGANIZES MEMBERSHIP EVENTS INCLUDING AN ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP CONFERENCE TO REVIEW ARM INITIATIVES, EDUCATE ITS MEMBERS AND PARTICIPATE IN PANEL DISCUSSIONS ON NEW AND INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS AND BEST PRACTICES IN THE AGGREGATE AND READY MIX CONCRETE INDUSTRIES. ARM COMMUNICATES REGULARLY WITH ITS MEMBERS THROUGH MEMBER UPDATES. ARM ALSO MAINTAINS A WEB SITE (WWW.CHOOSECONCRETE.COM) TO PROVIDE EDUCATION OF AGGREGATE AND READY MIX CONCRETE TO OWNERS, SPECIFIERS AND CONTRACTORS IN MINNESOTA AS WELL AS ARM MEMBERS.ARM WORKS VIGOROUSLY TO ENSURE THAT ITS MEMBERS AND THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE KEPT CURRENT OF THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES AND DEVELOPMENTS. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL, ARM SPONSORS THE ACI TECHNICAL CERTIFICATION TRAINING IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND LAKE SUPERIOR COLLEGE, DULUTH, MN. ARM OFFERS THE FOLLOWING CERTIFICATION COURSES THROUGH THIS COOPERATIVE EFFORT: AGGREGATE PRODUCTION 1: CONCRETE FIELD TESTING TECHNICIAN LEVEL 1; CONCRETE FIELD II; ACI CONCRETE FINISHER PROGRAM; CONCRETE PLANT I; CONCRETE PLANT I RECERTIFICATION; CONCRETE PLANT II; AND CONCRETE PLANT II RECERTIFICATION. ARM ALSO PROVIDES CONCRETE PAVEMENT SALES AND PERVIOUS CONCRETE TRAINING. IN FY2013, ARM CONTRACTED TO DELIVER REGISTRATION SERVICES FOR ALL MNDOT PAVING MATERIALS CERTIFICATIONS INCLUDING MORE THAN 3,000 STUDENTS SEEKING CERTIFICATION FOR CONCRETE, ASPHALT, BRIDGES AND OTHER MNDOT PROGRAMS.ARM PARTNERS WITH THE PCA-NC STEERING COMMITTEE TO PROMOTE CONCRETE PARKING LOTS AND LOCAL STREETS IN MINNESOTA THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CONCRETE PAVING ASSOCIATION OF MINNESOTA (CPAM) AND THE FIELD PROMOTER FOR PCA-NC. ARM STAFF WORKS WITH ARM MEMBERS TO INCREASE THE MARKET SHARE FOR CONCRETE IN THESE MARKETS THROUGH THIS SIGNIFICANT JOINT EFFORT WITH PCA-NC.ARM MEMBERS AND THE ARM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR WORK WITH THE LEGISLATIVE CONSULTING FIRM, EWALD CONSULTING, TO REPRESENT ARM MEMBERS AT THE MINNESOTA LEGISLATURE, STATE AGENCIES AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT BODIES ON REGULATORY AND PUBLIC POLICY ISSUES IMPACTING THE AGGREGATE AND READY MIX INDUSTRIES IN MINNESOTA.THE ASSOCIATION ACCOMPLISHES ITS WORK THROUGH A COMMITTEE STRUCTURE THAT OVERSEES A NUMBER OF MAJOR INITIATIVES. THE AGGREGATE COMMITTEE MANAGES LEGISLATIVE INITIATIVES INVOLVING THE TAXATION AND REGULATION OF AGGREGATE MINING BY FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT. ARM PARTICIPATES IN EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS AND STATEWIDE CONFERENCES DESIGNED TO INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE AGGREGATE MINING INDUSTRY IN MINNESOTA AND THE USES AND BENEFITS OF A DEPENDABLE LOCAL SOURCE OF AGGREGATE PRODUCTS. ARM SUPPORTS THE MINNESOTA CENTER FOR MINERAL RESOURCES EDUCATION (MCMRE) A 501(C)(3) CHARITABLE EDUCATION ORGANIZATION FOCUSED ON SUPPORTING K-12 SCIENCE TEACHERS UNDERSTANDING OF THE MINERALS INDUSTRY IN MINNESOTA THROUGH ANNUAL MINNESOTA MINERALS EDUCATION WORKSHOPS (MMEW). THE ASSOCIATION ALSO QUALIFIES AS A TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATION UNDER APPLICABLE STATUTES OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA. THERE WAS NO INCOME TAX EXPENSE OR CASH PAID FOR INCOME TAXES FOR THE YEARS ENDED JUNE 30, 2013 AND 2012. THE ASSOCIATION REVIEWS INCOME TAX POSITIONS TAKEN OR EXPECTED TO BE TAKEN IN INCOME TAX RETURNS TO DETERMINE IF THERE ARE ANY INCOME TAX UNCERTAINTIES. THIS INCLUDES POSITIONS THAT THE ENTITY IS EXEMPT FROM INCOME TAXES OR NOT SUBJECT TO INCOME TAXES ON UNRELATED BUSINESS INCOME. THE ASSOCIATION RECOGNIZES TAX BENEFITS FROM UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS ONLY IF IT IS MORE LIKELY THAN NOT THAT THE TAX POSITIONS WILL BE SUSTAINED ON EXAMINATION BY TAXING AUTHORITIES, BASED ON THE TECHNICAL MERITS OF THE POSITION. THE ASSOCIATION HAS IDENTIFIED NO INCOME TAX UNCERTAINTIES. THE ASSOCIATIONS FEDERAL AND STATE INCOME TAX RETURNS ARE OPEN TO EXAMINATION FOR TAX YEARS 2010 THROUGH 2012.
