We are called to assist people to envision a future of hope and prosperity by providing fundamental learning blocks, connecting to broader social and economic networks, preparing for today's job market through placement and supports, and ensuring people are healthy, stable, and engaged. East side's goals reflect its core priorities: that people have the stability that they need to thrive; children and youth foster curiosity and autonomy through educational pathways; older adults are valued, socially and intellectually engaged, and able to live in community; families build foundations for healing and growth; and our community has a place to be, heal, and learn together. We pursue these goals through programs and services that span generations and neighborhoods.

SCSEP SERVED 175 OLDER LOW-INCOME ADULTS THROUGH WORK EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOCUSED ON DEVELOPING TECHNOLOGICAL SKILLS NEEDED FOR THE REMOTE AND BLENDED WORKPLACE. OF THESE, 17 EXITED THE PROGRAM AND FOUR TRANSITIONED TO UNSUBSIDIZED EMPLOYMENT.VITAL LIVING - HELPS OLDER ADULTS ENGAGE WITH OTHERS, BETTER MANAGE THEIR MENTAL HEALTH AND CHRONIC CONDITIONS, AND MAINTAIN INDEPENDENCE AND ALSO PROVIDES CAREGIVING SUPPORT THROUGH RESPITE, EDUCATION, AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES. VITAL LIVING OFFERED THE FOLLOWING HEALTH AND WELLNESS SERVICES TO OLDER ADULTS IN 2023: 111 WERE PROVIDED TOOLS FOR FALL PREVENTION AND DISEASE SELF-MANAGEMENT; 400 WERE REFERRED TO RESOURCES TO HELP AGE-IN-COMMUNITY; 148 RECEIVED TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION, SUPPORT, AND REFERRALS; 10 CAREGIVERS PARTICIPATED IN SUPPORT GROUPS AND LEARNED SELF-CARE; 8 CAREGIVERS HAD RESPITE WHILE CARE RECEIVERS ENJOYED ACTIVITIES; AND, 93 CAREGIVERS WERE PROVIDED WITH CAREGIVING RESOURCES.TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM WE PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION ACROSS ALL PROGRAM AREAS. THE PRIMARY FUNCTION OF THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT IS TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR SHOPPING, MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, AND OTHER NEEDS, TO PEOPLE 60 AND OVER AND THOSE WITH DISABILITIES. IN 2023, EAST SIDE PROVIDED 12,895 RIDES TO 294 OLDER AND/OR DISABLED ADULTS. |

IN AUGUST, WE REDUCED OUR PROGRAM SIZE TO TWO SITES LUXTON LEARNERS AND MULBERRY JUNCTION FOLLOWING A LOSS IN FUNDING. MENLO PARK ACADEMY - MENLO PARK ACADEMY IS AN ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOL WITHIN THE MINNEAPOLIS PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT THAT ENROLLS AN AVERAGE OF SIXTY 11TH AND 12TH GRADE STUDENTS EACH YEAR. MENLO ENROLLED 54 STUDENTS IN 2023, AND GRADUATED SEVEN, WITH FIVE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED.ASPIRE - THIS PROGRAM ADDRESSES SCHOOL ATTENDANCE FOR REFERRED STUDENTS BY ELIMINATING BARRIERS AND PROVIDING SUPPORT TO FAMILIES AND CONNECTING THEM TO SERVICES TO MEET THEIR NEEDS. IN 2023, 143 INDIVIDUALS WERE SERVED BY THE PROGRAM, WITH OVER 60% SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING THE PROGRAM.NORTHEAST CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER (NECDC) - EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN FROM SIX WEEKS THROUGH PRESCHOOL. THE PROGRAM HELPS CHILDREN TO DEVELOP PHYSICALLY, SOCIALLY, AND COGNITIVELY ACCORDING TO INDIVIDUAL LEARNING STYLES. IN 2023, 97 CHILDREN WERE ENROLLED, INCLUDING 23 INFANTS, 29 TODDLERS, AND 45 PRESCHOOLERS. OF THESE CHILDREN, 74% OF INFANTS, 76% OF TODDLERS AND 87% OF PRESCHOOLERS ARE DEVELOPMENTALLY ON TRACK, AND THOSE ASSESSED AS NOT ON TRACK WERE REFERRED TO ADDITIONAL SUPPORT SERVICES, INCLUDING MENTAL HEALTH, SPEECH, OCCUPATIONAL AND PHYSICAL THERAPY. |
