MORE THAN 600,000 UNIQUE PATIENTS ACCOUNT FOR MORE THAN 2.6 MILLION VISITS ANNUALLY IN MAYO CLINIC HEALTH SYSTEM. JAMES OPERATES PRIMARY CARE CLINICS IN ST. JAMES AND TRIMONT. MCHS - ST. JAMES SERVED OVER 25,000 CLINIC VISITS.UNCOMPENSATED CARE: MCHS - ST. JAMES PROVIDES CARE TO PERSONS COVERED BY GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS. SERVICES ARE PROVIDED TO BOTH MEDICARE AND MEDICAID PATIENTS/RESIDENTS AT SUBSTANTIAL DISCOUNTS FROM STANDARD FEES. MCHS - ST. JAMES IS DESIGNATED AS A CRITICAL ACCESS HOSPITAL AND IS REIMBURSED BASED ON ITS COST OF PROVIDING SERVICES FOR HOSPITAL MEDICARE PATIENTS.CHARITY CARE IS ALSO PROVIDED FOR PATIENTS THAT ARE FINANCIALLY UNABLE TO PAY FOR SERVICES PROVIDED. THE COST OF CHARITY PROVIDED IN 2014 WAS APPROXIMATELY $91,500.MCHS - ST. JAMES ALSO PROVIDES DISCOUNTS TO UNINSURED PATIENTS. THE TOTAL DISCOUNTS GIVEN IN 2014 WERE $59,000.THE COST OF UNCOMPENSATED CARE IN 2014 PROVIDED TO LOW INCOME PATIENTS THROUGH MEDICAID AND OTHER GOVERNMENTAL PROGRAMS WAS APPROXIMATELY $381,000.
