The science museum of minnesota envisions a world in which everyone has the power to use science to make lives better. The museum is one of the state's oldest and best-known cultural institutions, with a history dating back to 1907. The museum serves hundreds of thousands of people each year with a combination of high-quality stem learning experiences, highly-regarded science and research programs that span the globe, and a world-class collection of nearly two million fossils, artifacts, and cultural objects that span billions of years of earth's history. The museum's mission is to turn on the science: inspire learning, inform policy, and improve lives.

As a result, the museum has recorded income tax expense of $97,175 and $17,710 for the years ended june 30, 2022 and 2021 respectively, which has been netted against investment income in the accompanying statement of activities. The museum follows the accounting standards for contingencies in evaluating uncertain tax positions. This guidance prescribes recognition threshold principles for the financial statement recognition of tax positions taken or expected to be taken on a tax return that are not certain to be realized. No liability has been recognized by the museum for uncertain tax positions as of june 30, 2022 and 2021. The museum's tax returns are subject to review and examination by federal and state authorities.”
