Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Research Grantmaking and Scientific Program Support. 70 percent of total activity and 85-88 percent of expenses. FAR awards research grants and provides targeted financial support for early stage scientific investigations in adenosine biology. Grants are designed to support hypothesis-driven preclinical and translational research, including pilot studies, proof-of-concept experiments, and data generation necessary to advance understanding of adenosine signaling in areas such as oncology, autoimmune disease, inflammation, and metabolic disorders. Scientific review and funding recommendations are supported by external scientific advisors and, beginning in 2026, a formal Scientific Advisory Council composed of independent subject-matter experts who serve as unpaid volunteers. Funded research activities are conducted at third-party academic institutions, nonprofit research organizations, and qualified research laboratories in the US. FAR does not operate laboratory facilities. Activity is funded entirely through charitable donations. Expenses are allocable to research grants, pilot studies, and associated scientific program support. Activity directly furthers FAR's scientific and educational purposes by advancing basic and translational research related to adenosine biology. Funding early stage research reduces barriers to discovery, promotes dissemination of scientific knowledge, and accelerates progress toward therapies that benefit public health.$42,500$0
Governance, Compliance, and Organizational Operations. 10 percent of total activity and 5-10 percent of expenses. FAR maintains essential governance, compliance and administrative operations, including board management, financial oversight, regulatory filings, donor stewardship and organizational planning. Professional service providers (legal, accounting, insurance) are engaged as needed. Administrative activities are conducted remotely and through third-party service providers. Funded through charitable donations. Effective governance and compliance ensures FAR operates exclusively for charitable and scientific purposes and maintains accountability to donors and the public.$0$3,155
ACCORD (Adenosine Cancer Collaborative for Oncology Research and Discovery). 10 percent of total activity and 5-8 percent of expenses. FAR convenes and supports ACCORD, a structured scientific collaboration focused on the role of adenosine signaling in cancer biology and treatment. ACCORD facilitates coordinated data review, prioritization of research questions and alignment of preclinical research efforts across participating investigators. The activity includes invited academic researchers, clinicians and scientific advisors. ACCORD activities are conducted through virtual meetings and periodic in-person scientific convenings hosted at partner academic or research institutions. ACCORD is funded through charitable donations. Expenses are primarily for meeting coordination, scientific review support, and limited pilot study funding. By fostering collaboration and coordination among researchers, ACCORD enhances scientific efficiency, reduces duplication of effort, and promotes the generation and dissemination of new scientific knowledge related to cancer biology and treatment.$0$0
Scientific Advisory and Educational Convenings. 10 percent of total activity and 5-7 percent of expenses. FAR organizes scientific workshops, advisory meetings, and structured educational convenings to review emerging research, define research priorities and educate stakeholders on advances in adenosine biology. Convenings are focused on scientific exchange and strategic research planning. Activities include participation from volunteer scientific advisors, academic researchers, and clinicians. FAR's Scientific Advisory Council will participate on an unpaid, volunteer basis. Activities are conducted through virtual platforms and occasional in-person meetings hosted at academic or nonprofit venues. Funded through charitable donations. These activities further FAR's educational and scientific mission by promoting knowledge sharing, supporting informed research decision-making and advancing understanding of adenosine-related biology and disease mechanisms.$0$0
