Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Gps education partners is an innovative education model that uniquely prepares students to succeed in technical careers and promotes viability for business.

Gpsed celebrated our 20th anniversary of providing students with a pathway to prosperity by preparing them for advanced positions in technical trades. To date, our wisconsin-based manufacturing youth apprenticeship program has graduated almost 1000 high school students from over 45 school districts with support from almost 100 businesses who provide the work experiences and in many times, hier on students at the completion of the program. To develop a pipeline of future work-based learning graduates and to ensure greater access and equity to educational needs, gpsed also launched programs to over 200 younger students by creating early career awareness activities that opened their minds and interest around technical careers they do not typically learn about in school. Gpsed continues to leverage intermediary services to convene more partners together both in and outside of wisconsin to scale work-based learning solutions that will impact students.

Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part I

The covid-19 outbreak caused disruption for gps education partners with a lack of business partners, increased costs for rental space, chromebooks, extra cleaning, and supplies. With the help of the ppp loan and forgiveness we sustained operations but with a larger than normal loss for the fiscal year due to the timing of the ppp2 expenses. We will apply for forgiveness in fiscal year 21/22 for the ppp2 loan. As we move forward into our new fiscal year we are experiencing more favorable response from our business partners and are incurring less covid related expenses. With current solid balance sheet performance despite covid, we believe both of these scenarios will continue. The above coupled with a positive position on donations and increased new engagements has placed us in a favorable position for next fiscal year end. We have no reason to believe a financial loss will recur and strongly believe we have survived the worst of the covid year. The continued need for innovative solutions to better engage and prepare a more diverse and inclusive workforce has never been greater. The current engagement of our business and schools partners and appropriate levels of cash reserves is expected to meet the financial needs of gpse'd for next fiscal year.
