Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our mission is to instill hope in our community through progressive programs and partnerships to prevent homelessness and end hunger.

Middleton outreach ministry is a community-based charitable organization that offers financial assistance, food and clothing, and other aid to community residents who require transitional help. Middleton outreach ministry also provides volunteer opportunities for community residents seeking to help those less fortunate. This volunteer support, along with community financial contributions, are annually directed to the betterment of the middleton and cross plains community.

A draft of the prepared form 990 is reviewed by the audit and finance committee of the governing body. Any changes suggested by the committee are presented to the members of the governing body for approval. The prepared form 990 is filed with the irs after approval of the governing body.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Annually, all directors and officers are required to disclose, in writing, any potential conflicts of interest. All disclosure statements are signed and maintained by the president of the governing body. At the beginning of each meeting, all directors are asked to disclose any previously undisclosed conflicts of interest. A director with a conflict may be asked to recuse himself/herself from the particular motion or consideration. Any disclosures of conflicts of interest become record as a part of the minutes of the meeting.

The personnel committee of the governing body anually reviews the latest compensation and benefits survey prepared by the united way of dane county. The executive director's compensation and benefits are determined based on a comparison of the duties and responsibilities of executive directors as outlined in the survey to the duties and responsibilities of middleton outreach ministry's executive director as well as the executive director's job performance. The executive director's compensation is approved, in writing, by the personnel committee and reported to all members of the governing body.

THE FOOD PANTRY IS STAFFED BY OVER 200 VOLUNTEERS WHO DISTRIBUTED ALMOST 825,000 POUNDS OF FOOD ANNUALLY TO MORE THAN 1,275 FAMILIES AND INDIVIDUALS OF WHOM ROUGHLY 43% ARE CHILDREN. THE AMOUNT OF FOOD THEY RECEIVE IS BASED ON FAMILY SIZE WITH NO LIMITATIONS ON NUMBER OF VISITS OR INCOME LEVELS. ROUGHLY 45% OF OUR FOOD IS DONATED BY THE COMMUNITY, SCHOOLS, AND BUSINESSES. FRESH PRODUCE IS ALSO GROWN IN OUR VOLUNTEER STAFFED TEACHING GARDEN. GENTLY USED CLOTHING AND LINENS ARE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE THROUGH THE CLOTHING CENTER, SERVING MORE THAN 1,200 PEOPLE PER MONTH AND HELPING OUR CUSTOMERS STRETCH THEIR LIMITED DOLLARS. IN OPERATION FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS, THE PROGRAM IN 2013 SAVED CUSTOMERS OVER $400,000 AT THRIFT STORE PRICES.
