Mission and Program Overview

Mission

To empower victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault to rise above the terror of violence and to educate the community in order to end violence in our society.

The organization provides a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, safety planning, one-on-one advocacy, and group support for adults and children who are victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking in dunn and pepin counties. The organization also conducts community outreach and education. Staff providing these services include the sexual assault advocate, legal advocate, domestic violence/outreach advocate, care managers (crisis workers), and volunteers.vision statement: our vision is to provide a bridge to hope that creates a safer, more just, and compassionate society.

THIS INCLUDED ACCOMPANIMENT TO FORENSIC EXAMS, CRIMINAL SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND INFORMATION AND REFERRALS. THE ORGANIZATION ACCOMPANIED EIGHT VICTIMS TO THE HOSPITAL, AS WELL AS ADVOCACY AT THE CHIPPEWA VALLEY CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER FOR EIGHT MINORS WHO WERE SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIMS.3) OUTREACH: IN 2013 THE ORGANIZATION GAVE 41 PRESENTATIONS TO 2,027 INDIVIDUALS. 23 OF THOSE PRESENTATIONS WERE TO YOUTH GROUPS. SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS FOCUSED ON SAFE DATING, ISSUES OF CONSENT, INTERNET PREDATORS, BULLYING, AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS.4) COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: THE ORGANIZATION PARTICIPATED IN 41 PUBLIC HEALTH AWARENESS EVENTS WHICH INCLUDED HEALTH FAIRS, TV AND RADIO INTERVIEWS, SPECIAL EVENTS, AND FUNDRAISING EVENTS. THE ORGANIZATOIN ALSO COORDINATED A COMMUNITY CRIME RESPONSE TEAM, AND WERE ACTIVE IN AWARENESS AND PREVENTION ACTIVITIES AT UW-STOUT.DURING 2013, THE ORGANIZATION RECOGNIZED $2,679 FOR DONATED SERVICES AND RENT USED IN PROVIDING SERVICES.
