Mission

The inaugural project of the st. James community foundation is to address the issue of homelessness amongst youth aging out of the foster care system. This population is grossly under-served an needs to have housing option within the county they live in so that their lives will not be further disrupted by having to locate housing and start over in a county they are unfamiliar with. We have therefore, embarked on a project to build a small residential village to assist in the alleviation of homelessness for the population.

The mission of the st. James community development corporation is to support missions that address the social, quality of life, health,housing, and economic development issues that plague our community.

In addition to the primary housing project, the st. James community foundation engaged in other exempt purpose activities to support youth aging out of foster care. These included community education efforts to raise awareness about the challenges faced by this population, participation in local coalitions focused on youth homelessness, and the establishment of relationships with service providers to coordinate future supportive services. The foundation also conducted fundraising and grant writing activities to support its mission and expand its impact.
