IRS990/Desc0Community Health:oThe Cooking for a Change program reached over 560 participants at our annual farmers market, senior citizens and residents from the Garden View Estates.oThe Farmers Market operated from June through October offering access to fresh food and vegetables in the immediate neighborhood. Attendance increased with average attendance between 80 - 130 weekly. Total sales averaged $463 weekly. $309 of the average weekly sales were from recipients receiving support through EBT, WIC Project Fresh, Double Up Food Bucks, Senior Project Fresh, and the Fresh RX program.oA partnership with Globe Med University of Michigan students helped to develop a curriculum for youth, Leading Youth thru Food and Financial Education (LYFFE). Community and Economic DevelopmentoJoy Southfield received over $50,000 of in kind support for our home repair program. Completing minor and major repairs at eight homes.oJSCDC completed several days of blight and neighborhood beautification projects. oThis past spring, JSCDC completed bioretention and beautification enhancements in conjunction with a successful Transportation Alternatives Program (U.S. Department of Transportation) award. This was a coordinated effort with Wayne County and the City of Detroit to install enhancements on Joy Road at the corners of Artesian, Faust and Westwood.The annual Motown fund raiser raised a total of $15,615.70
