| IRS990ScheduleI/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | THE USE OF GRANT FUNDS IS MONITORED IN TWO WAYS. FIRST, THROUGH THE DUE DILIGENCE RESEARCH OF THE PROGRAMS MANAGER WHEN ASSESSING THE INITIAL GRANT REQUEST AND POTENTIAL GRANT AMOUNT. THE GRANT APPLICANT MUST PROVIDE ALL RELEVANT DOCUMENTATION OF EXPENSES AND THE PROGRAM MANAGER VERIFIES THAT A VALID QUALIFYING EVENT HAS OCCURRED AND THAT THE NEED DOES EXIST. SECOND, ONCE A GRANT IS APPROVED, PAYMENTS ARE NOT TYPICALLY MADE DIRECTLY TO THE GRANT RECIPIENT, INSTEAD PAYMENTS ARE MADE DIRECTLY TO THE SERVICE PROVIDER/COMPANY ON BEHALF OF THE GRANT RECIPIENT. EXAMPLES OF SERVICE PROVIDERS/COMPANIES INCLUDE: UTILITY COMPANIES, MORTGAGE LENDERS, MEDICAL PROVIDERS, AND FUNERAL SERVICE PROVIDERS. IN ADDITION, WHEN PAYMENTS/FUNDS ARE SENT TO A PROVIDER/COMPANY THE GRANT RECIPIENT'S ACCOUNT INFORMATION IS INCLUDED SO THAT PAYMENT IS APPLIED PROPERLY. |
