The great lakes energy people fund exists to support humanitarian, charitable, scientific, educational, community development, and benevolent purposes by making distributions to organizations qualifying under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3) or as tax exempt organizations. All of the organizations receiving the grants must apply for the grants and qualify accordingly to receive the distributions based upon various factors set forth by the board members of the fund. Great lakes energy members help to enhance the quality of life for people in our communities through the people fund. Bills of participating members are rounded up to the next dollar amount and grants are awarded to non- profit organizations and charitable activities throughout our service area. Grants are awarded by three independent boards of directors representing three geographical regions south, central and north.
