“The bureau is exempt from federal income taxes under 501(c)(6) of the internal revenue code. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the bureau's tax-exempt purpose may be subject to taxation as unrelated business income. Since the bureau is exempt from federal income taxes, no provision for income taxes is included in the accompanying financial statements. Generally, tax years from 2021 through the current year remain open to examination. Management does not believe that the results from the examination of any open years would have a material adverse effect on the bureau.”
