Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Greate lakes "blue economy": cgli partnered with the great lakes commission in a project that is quantifying the economic impact of the great lakes restoration initiative. Cgli developed the scope of the glri economic impact study, assisted in preparing applications to private foundations for grant support, and managed the first phase of the project, which provided an initial assessment of the economic impact of the glri to enable better communications about how protecting and restoring the natural environment is generating economic benefits for communities across the region. Great lakes sustainability initiative: cgli created partnerships to design and implement a project that will convene industry to develop a sustainability strategy for the great lakes region. The strategy will identify the relevant economics, structures, and processes that define sustainability in this globally important region and will articulate a framework, set of principles, suite of metrics, general guidelines or other mechanism that emobdies principles of sustainability specific to the great lakes region. Water use and quality: cgli continued to track activities under the great lakes st. Lawrence water-resources compact and agreement during 2017. Science, data and indicators: cgli continued to engage in regional activites that promote sound science and fact based decision making in regards to great lakes policy decisions. Adaption and resiliency: cgli continued to track emering issues such as crude oil transportation in the great lakes, the controversy over enbridge line 5 in the straits of mackinac and the need for infrastructure upgrades.
