Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Home construction: home ownership program (hop) - hhhv partners with families to build a new life for themselves through decent, affordable homeownership. We renovate existing underutilized houses with community partners and sponsors. We turn the houses into homes and assist the partner family in obtaining an affordable mortgage. Newly renovated, energy- efficient habitat homes are sold to individuals and families who qualify and are approved for our program. Those who partner with habitat are community-minded residents who are looking for the stability of homeownership. Hhhv also works closely with our families by offering classes that will prepare them to be successful homeowners. Ultimately, we build much more than houses - the impact of homeownership is profound and lasting. Hhhv has provided over 261 homes to new owners under this program

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

Home construction: home improvement program (hip) - the home improvement program furthers hhhv's mission of supporting affordable home ownership. The program includes all hhhv projects for families who do not receive a new mortgage. Hip includes roof replacements, weatherization projects, critical repair projects, exterior improvements, refrigerator replacements as well as furnace testing and replacement. There are a large number of homes that are in need of roof replacement in the community - where the cost of replacement is beyond the reach of many families. Without a new roof these families' homes will continue to deteriorate and would eventually become unlivable. In addition, homes that are insufficiently insulated or have outdated heating equipment are often a financial burden to their homeowners and can potentially be unsafe. Hhhv's hip aims to alleviate this pressure on low-income residents by making homes more energy efficient. Through these energy efficiency upgrades, hhhv can help families save on their monthly utility bills as well as reduce their impact on the environment to create a more sustainable community. Since 2013, the hhhv hip has served 1,015 families county-wide with substantial projects including veteran repairs, weatherization work, insulation, and/or furnace replacements. These projects have helped many families save an average of 500 per year in utility costs. During the same period, hhhv has also worked with an additional 6,914 families with smaller projects including furnace tune-ups, new refrigerators, and exterior home improvements.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4D

Community development - our community development activities include events in which hhhv helps create a benefit for an entire neighborhood. Activities include neighborhood association meetings, community planning meetings, door-to-door surveys, supporting resident-led action teams, neighborhood beautification days, neighborhood picnics, enhancing community amenities, and neighborhood school events. In particular, hhhv is currently partnering with residents in gault village, west willow, and sugarbrook to make their communities even better places to live and work. While we have renovated more than 57 homes in these neighborhoods, we also provide support for community planning and organization work to enhance the positive impact of all of our programs. We offer these programs and activities in order to bring positive change to neighborhoods, making them more economically stable and improving the quality of life for residents. Habitat education program - we are a hud-approved housing counseling agency that works with individuals to prepare them for homeownership, and to improve and meet their financial goals. Our habitat education program offers free one-on-one housing and financial counseling and group money management, homebuyer education, home maintenance, and post-purchase workshops. All counseling and education services are available and open to the public.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0HOME CONSTRUCTION: HOME OWNERSHIP PROGRAM (HOP) - HHHV PARTNERS WITH FAMILIES TO BUILD A NEW LIFE FOR THEMSELVES THROUGH DECENT, AFFORDABLE HOMEOWNERSHIP.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0HOME CONSTRUCTION: HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (HIP) - THE HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM FURTHERS HHHV'S MISSION OF SUPPORTING AFFORDABLE HOME OWNERSHIP.
