“To educate, encourage, assist and serve the families and friends of alcoholics through: 1. Seminars offering speakers and panels made up of people who have had personal experience as one affected by alcoholism in a friend or family member. 2. Conducting workshops for al-anon members who volunteered to sponsor alateen meetings. 3. The printing and distribution of a quarterly newsletter containing information regarding state, area and local al-anon activities; personal sharing of al-anon members on topics related to self-improvement and al-anon related interests; minutes of state business meetings as well as financial reports. 4. Sponsoring and assisting alateens in their state conventions. 5. Attendance of the state delegate at the world service conference representing michigan to determine world wide al-anon policies. 6. Workshop to instruct members of the means of service to others who are in need of the help offered through the al-anon program. To coordinate policy among al-anon and alateen groups through: 1. The conducting of regular area world service committee meetings attended by michigan afg, inc. Officers, program coordinators and representatives from forty-two districts throughout the state. 2. The state assembly meetings attended by representatives from local groups throughout the state to review existing policy, formulate new guidelines where necessary and elect state officers in service for the next three year term. The purpose to disseminate conference approved literature was achieved through coordinators who serve to inform members of new or revised literature available through the al-anon family group headquarters, inc, as well as make that literature available at all state meetings, conventions and alateen functions.”
