Since 2013, the fund for the environment has had no activity. Plans for the future inclue land conservation, greenways and trails, clean water and green infrastructire, and raising funds to support such issues. The fund is expected to have philnthropic partners as well as nonprofit partners that will assist in responding to such opportunities.”
“The fund served as the fiduciary for the annual gathering of the collaboration of regional trail initiatives (crti). Crti is an annual convening of institutions from around the country working on regional trail and greenway networks. Begun in 2018 as a program of the pennsylvania environmental council (pec) as a way to explore issues and opportunities associated with the circuit trails, a network of trails in and around philadelphia, it has expanded to include participants from as diverse as san francisco and portland, oregon to birmingham, alabama and st. Louis. As crti expanded beyond pennsylvania, the fund replaced pec as the fiduciary and institutional manager of crti. The 2025 event, held in charlotte, north carolina, was attended by 65 people representing 29 different states. Activities included learning from the place and engaging with local leaders, exploring challenges with maintenance, creative partnerships with the health community, and working with economically disadvantaged communities.”
