“Avoidable blindness - once a year, an eye doctor, who is also a member of the burton rotary club, and a group of rotarians donate their time and travel to empalme, mexico for approximatley ten days to deliver thousands of pairs of eyeglasses. The eyeglasses, which are donated from various communities and purchased through community support, are given to patients who are in one form or another visually disabled. The patients are examined and fitted for eyeglasses free of charge. Over the last seventeen years, tens of thousands of paitents have received treatment through the avoidable blindness program.”
