“To work for the welfare of lake superior state university and the enhancement of the mission of the university. To develop and promote the adoption of such ethical practices, personnel policies and standards of preparation and participation as mark a profession. To unify and strenghten the faculty and secure and maintain terms of appointment, compensation, promotion, tenure, professional and sick leave, and other working conditions necessary for the faculty to fulfill its professional responsibilities and secure its professional rights. To enable association members to speak with a common voice in matters of university policy and to present there common interest before the board of regents and other legal authorities as provided by law. To encourage faculty members to exercise their rights and privileges as citizens.”

“To help its members achieve their employment goals, the association paid dues to the michigan education association and the national education association. This provided union representation for more than 100 faculty members.”

“In order to unify the faculty, the association sponsored payday socials, dinners and a picnic benefitting approximately 75 people.”
