Wound care uses a multidisciplinary approach to heal chronic wounds and prevent reoccurrence. It is provided by our surgeon, who is a certified wound specialist physician. The hospital offers a pain management clinic twice a week with minimally invasive interventional procedures offered twice a month.”

COMMUNITY EDUCATION LUNCHEONS ARE OFFERED WITH PHYSICIANS/PROVIDERS PRESENTING PROGRAMS ON HEALTH TOPICS. THE PROGRAM AND MEAL ARE PROVIDED AT NO COST. ADDITIONALLY, HOSPITAL STAFF REACH PATIENTS WITH PRESENTATIONS ON A WIDE VARIETY OF TOPICS INCLUDING HEART HEALTH, NUTRITION, KIDNEY HEALTH, DIABETES, ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE, SLEEP APNEA, ARTHRITIS, FOOT CARE, EXERCISE AND DIET, ETC. THE HOSPITAL OFFERS A WEEKLY COUMADIN CLINIC FOR PATIENTS TAKING COUMADIN (WARFARIN) THERAPY. THE CLINIC IS DIRECTED BY THE HOSPITAL PHARMACIST OF WHICH NO REIMBURSEMENT IS RECEIVED FOR PHARMACIST SERVICES. HOSPITAL MANAGERS ARE FREQUENTLY GUEST SPEAKERS AT SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS ON VARIOUS HEALTH TOPICS AND HEALTHCARE CAREERS. MARSHALL BROWNING HOSPITAL HAS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE JOB SHADOWING PROGRAM AT THE HOSPITAL. THE HOSPITAL PROVIDED SPORTS AND SCHOOL PHYSICALS TO LOCAL STUDENTS FOR A FEE OF $10 AND RETURNED THE FEE TO THE PARTICIPATING SCHOOLS. MARSHALL BROWNING SERVES AS A CLINICAL SITE FOR JOHN A. LOGAN COLLEGE NURSING STUDENTS AND IS A CLINICAL SITE FOR OTHER COLLEGES INCLUDING SIU MEDICAL SCHOOL, SIU-C, REND LAKE COLLEGE, KASKASKIA COLLEGE, CHAMBERLAIN COLLEGE, SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS, AND SICCM. THE HOSPITAL PROVIDES A FOUR-YEAR $1,000 SCHOLARSHIP TO A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR ENTERING THE HEALTHCARE FIELD EACH YEAR. MARSHALL BROWNING HOSPITAL PROVIDES A VARIETY OF COMMUNITY SERVICES TO CITIZENS AND EMPLOYEES INCLUDING THE COMMUNITY HEALTH CHECK OFFERING DEEPLY DISCOUNTED LAB TESTING EVERY TUESDAY. HOSPITAL STAFF DONATE TIME TO SCHOOL HEALTH FAIRS, FIRST AID STATIONS, CONSERVATION FAIRS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY EVENTS. THE HOSPITAL PROVIDES FREE SPACE FOR AN ORTHOPEDIC CLINIC FOR CHILDREN AS WELL AS COMMUNITY CLASSES FOR AUTOMATIC ELECTRONIC DEFIBRILLATORS (AED), BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS), AND FOOD SAFETY MANAGER CLASSES. MARSHALL BROWNING ANNUALLY SUPPORTS THE DU QUOIN DISTRICT #300 SCHOOL, DU QUOIN YOUTH CLUB, NUBABILITY, AND SPECIAL OLYMPICS. THE HOSPITAL HOSTS SIX AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVES EACH YEAR. A MEMBER OF THE HOSPITAL'S MANAGEMENT TEAM SERVES ON THE TRANSITION2HOPE RESOURCE CENTER BOARD OF DIRECTORS. THE RESOURCE CENTER PROVIDES A FREE WEEKLY MEAL FOR THE HOMELESS AS WELL AS SHOWER FACILITIES, FOOD, AND CLOTHING. THE HOSPITAL PROVIDES A FREE MEAL TO HOMELESS INDIVIDUALS EACH MONTH AT THE TRANSITION 2 HOPE RESOURCE CENTER AND EMPLOYEES REGULARLY DONATE ITEMS SUCH AS COATS, HATS, GLOVES, CANNED GOODS, AND PERSONAL CARE ITEMS. MARSHALL BROWNING HOSPITAL PARTNERS WITH NATIONWIDE PRESCRIPTION CONNECTION (NPC) TO HELP PATIENTS OBTAIN MEDICATIONS THEY NEED BUT CANNOT AFFORD. THIS INITIATIVE IS PAID FOR BY THE HOSPITAL AND IS FREE TO PATIENTS. MARSHALL BROWNING HOSPITAL PROVIDES A CARE COORDINATION PROGRAM THAT ORGANIZES PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES DRIVEN BY A PATIENT-CENTERED FOCUS. TO SUPPORT CARE COORDINATION, THE HOSPITAL EMPLOYS THREE KEY TEAM MEMBERS. THE POSITIONS INCLUDE A TRANSITIONAL CARE NAVIGATOR, ANNUAL WELLNESS NURSE, AND CARE COORDINATOR. THE STAFF MEMBERS COORDINATE SAFE PATIENT TRANSITIONS BETWEEN HOSPITAL STAYS TO DISCHARGE HOME, ADDITIONAL FOLLOW-UP AFTER ED VISITS AND CHRONIC DISEASE CARE MANAGEMENT. PATIENT CARE ITEMS ARE PROVIDED FREE TO PATIENTS IN NEED, INCLUDING WHEELCHAIRS, BEDSIDE COMMODES, BLOOD PRESSURE CUFFS, PORTION CONTROL PLATES, PILL BOXES, AND PEDOMETERS.
