To build and support the biomedical engineering community (locally, nationally, and iternationally) with activities designed to communicate recent advances, discoveries, and inventions; to promote education and professional development; and integrate the perspectives of the academic, medical, governmental, and business sectors.

“The society has been recognized by the internal revenue service (irs) as a tax-exempt organization, as defined by section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (irc), that is publicly supported and, therefore, not a private foundation. Income that is not related to exempt purposes, less applicable deductions, is subject to federal and state income taxes. The society had no unrelated business income for the years ended june 30, 2020 and 2019. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is reflected in these financial statements. The society's federal exempt organization tax returns are subject to examination by the irs, generally for a period of three years after the returns are filed.”
