“The north santiam watershed council (nswc) was established in 1995 and was recognized by marion and linn county in 1998. Its creation was to comply with requirements of oregon state legislation that established the oregon watershed enhancement board (oweb) in 1987. Nswc is one of 90 recognized councils in oregon, all dedicated to promote watershed enhancement activities addressing local priorities for water quality, and fish and wildlife habitat. The nswc oversees a defined geographical watershed region that drains approximately 766 square miles from mount jefferson to the willamette river. All watershed councils, including nswc, are locally organized, voluntary and non- regulatory, and function as 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. The mission statement for nswc is to provide opportunities for stakeholders to cooperate in promoting and sustaining the health of the watershed and its communities. Our programs include landowner restoration, collaborative planning & partnership building and community engagement & education.”

NSWC IS ONE OF 90 RECOGNIZED COUNCILS IN OREGON, ALL DEDICATED TO PROMOTE WATERSHED ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES ADDRESSING LOCAL PRIORITIES FOR WATER QUALITY, AND FISH AND WILDLIFE HABITAT. THE NSWC OVERSEES A DEFINED GEOGRAPHICAL WATERSHED REGION THAT DRAINS APPROXIMATELY 766 SQUARE MILES FROM MOUNT JEFFERSON TO THE WILLAMETTE RIVER. ALL WATERSHED COUNCILS, INCLUDING NSWC, ARE LOCALLY ORGANIZED, VOLUNTARY AND NON- REGULATORY, AND FUNCTION AS 501(C)(3) NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS.
