IN 2017, THREE SCHOOLS WERE COMPLETED, AND CONSTRUCTION BEGAN ON TWO MORE. THE ANGOLAN MINISTRY OF EDUCATION HIRES AND PAYS THE TEACHERS, AND PROVIDES CHALKBOARDS, DESKS AND BASIC TEXTBOOKS. SINCE 2003, RISE HAS BUILT 162 SCHOOLS, PROVIDING ACCESS TO EDUCATION TO OVER 110,000 CHILDREN ANNUALLY. WELLS WERE DRILLED IN TWO VILLAGES AS PART OF CHILDREN'S PRIZE VALIDATION PROJECT, ANOTHER WAS FUNDED BY ROTARY AT UNGUENGUE AND A NATURAL SPRING WAS TAPPED AT LOMOLO, BRINGING CLEAN WATER TO FOUR SCHOOL SITES. THROUGH A GRANT FROM BP ANGOLA, LIBRARIES WERE ESTABLISHED IN THREE RISE-BUILT SCHOOLS IN APRIL, PROVIDING 3462 BOOKS, PLUS MAPS, GAMES, RESOURCES, AND TRAINING FOR SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AND TEACHERS. THE CONSTRUCTION OF SCHOOLS PROVIDES JOBS AND EMPLOYMENT FOR BUILDING TEAMS, AND TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS UPON COMPLETION. RISE CONTINUED TO DEVELOP STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH BP ANGOLA, EXXONMOBIL, JAM, ROTARY, AND LOCAL ADMINISTRATIONS, AND SECURED A NEW CO-FUNDING PARTNERSHIP WITH EDUCATE A CHILD. RISE WILL BUILD APPROXIMATELY 25 SCHOOLS, TO GIVE 24,000 MORE ANGOLAN CHILDREN THE CHANCE TO GO TO SCHOOL OVER THE NEXT TWO YEARS, AS WELL AS IMPLEMENT A SUBSTANTIAL MONITORING AND EVALUATION (M&E) COMPONENT, TRACKING THE ENROLLMENT, ATTENDANCE AND RETENTION OF THE 24,000 INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS. US TEAMS TRAVELED TO ANGOLA TWICE, TO VISIT SCHOOLS AND SITES, MEET WITH OUR TEAMS AND DOCUMENT THE WORK.
