Written policies and procedures are documented and used by the organization to address the policies, procedures, and activities which is located in the organization's bylaws and procedures manual. Yearly review of the manual takes place to assure sound operations and compliance with tax law. The organization's affiliate shares some of the same board of directors that oversees policy.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

The return preparer provides a copy of the final version of the form 990 to the vice president of finance and development. This individual works closely with the return preparer to generally improve compliance. No board member undertakes any review of the form 990 before or after the actual irs filing. Copies are available for review should a board member choose to review the 990 beforehand.

The organization's practices for monitoring proposed conflicts of interest include meetings with those involved with the board. Staff and board members involved with the organization are covered under the policy. Management level determines whether a conflict exists, and an actual conflict would be reviewed by the entire board of directors. If a conflict exists with a board member, that specific member would be prohibited from participating in deliberations and decisions on the transaction.

Sawyer garden's inc volunteers support the agency in fulfilling it's mission by providing much needed support for programs and events. Volunteers help raise hiv/aids awareness and promote events to friends, families, and colleagues. Sawyer garden's provides training and support needed to ensure events are fun, safe, and successful. In addition, volunteers put up posters & promotional materials in neighborhoods and workplaces.
